Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Hudl, its organizational culture and communication style. Introduction: So who here is a Cornhusker football fan? Well did you know that our very own football team was Hudl’s first client? In 2006, David Graff, a graduate assistant at UNL who was working with the football team at the time, saw the financial inconvenience of handing out individual DVDs and playbooks to players. With the help of two other students from UNL, Brian Kaiser and John Wirtz, they created a software to allow players and coaches to view film and playbooks online, Hudl is now a leading software company revolutionizing the way coaches and athletes practice and study their performances. Over 100,000 teams use it at all sorts of levels. Thesis: It is thanks to the foundation that the three founders built that paved the way to Hudl’s success today. First, I will talk about how Hudl’s communication style contributes to Hudl’s organization. Next, I will discuss how the friendly environment encourages employees to perform well. Finally, I will dive into Hudl’s elaborate education system. Transition: Now, I will talk about Hudl’s communication. Essential Amino Acids and Their Role in Good Health

An essential amino acid may also be called an indispensable amino acid. This is an amino acid that the body cannot synthesize on its own, so it must be obtained from the diet. Because each organism has its own physiology, the list of essential amino acids is different for humans than it is for other organisms. The Role of Amino Acids for Human Beings Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are essential to  forming our  muscles, tissues, organs, and glands. They also support human metabolism, protect the heart, and make it possible for our bodies to heal wounds and repair tissues. Amino acids are also essential for breaking down foods and removing waste from our bodies. Tryptophan and tyrosine are amino acids that produce neurotransmitters. Tryptophan produces the mood-regulating chemical serotonin and can make you sleepy. Tyrosine is essential for the production of norepinephrine and adrenaline and makes you feel more energetic.The amino acid arginine is essential to the production of nitric oxide which lowers blood pressure and helps to protect the heart.Histidine makes the enzymes needed to produce red blood cells and healthy nerves. ]Tyrosine is used in the production of thyroid hormones.Methionine makes a chemical called SAMe which is essential for the metabolism of DNA and neurotransmitters. Nutrition and Essential Amino Acids Because they cannot be produced by the body, essential amino acids must be part of everyones diet. It isnt critical that every essential amino acid be included in every meal, but over the course of a single day, its a good idea to eat foods that include  histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine,   tryptophan,   and valine. The best way to ensure that you are eating a sufficient quantity of foods with amino acids is to complete proteins. These include animal products including eggs, buckwheat, soybeans, and quinoa. Even if you dont specifically consume complete proteins, you can eat a variety of proteins throughout the day to ensure that you have enough essential amino acids. The recommended dietary allowance of protein is 46 grams daily for women and 56 grams for men.   Essential Versus Conditionally Essential Amino Acids The essential amino acids for all people are histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine. Several other amino acids are conditionally essential amino acids, meaning they are required at some stages of growth or by some people who cannot synthesize them, either because of genetics or a medical condition. In addition to the essential amino acids, babies and growing children also need arginine, cysteine, and tyrosine. Individuals with phenylketonuria (PKU) need tyrosine and also must limit their intake of phenylalanine. Certain populations need arginine, cysteine, glycine, glutamine, histidine, proline, serine and tyrosine because they either cannot synthesize them at all or else are unable to make enough to meet the needs of their metabolism. Common sense seems to dictate that one day we are all going to die. As we get older we crave to keep our youth, and to stay young forever is the ultimate dream. The thought of a possible immortality is just an added benefit. Even though we have strived towards this goal for centuries, have we obtained advances in successfully staying young forever? In Bill Gifford’s book â€Å"Spring Chicken: Stay Young Forever (Or Die Trying)† he explores these ideas of life and aging further. In this novel, he goes on a journey to try and debunk the mysteries and questions behind the new science of aging. He gathers information from tests and scientists from around the country to discover what really works to prevent or delay aging and what is just a hopeful hoax. He helps us figure out why we age and why aging ultimately leads us to death. Through his stories and his own research, I feel convinced that modern aging research and lifestyle modifications hold the secret to longer and he althier lives. When it comes to the topic of eating healthy, most of us will readily agree that we all need to. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the question of how and why. Whereas some are convinced that we don’t need to all be eating healthy foods that are overpriced to stay healthy, and others maintain that there is no other way. â€Å"To what extent does genetic inheritance influence behavior?† A debate of nature vs. nurture, as in whether it is our inherited genes or environmental factors that affect our behavior, has been going on for years. There are no true experiments on genetic inheritance influencing behavior due to ethical reasons. Only quasi-experiments and theories of pre-existing data are available that are on genetics or environmental factors affecting behavior. With the few studies existing one can still argue that genetic inheritance is a major aspect in what affects behavior but environmental factors can be more affective. There are two main theories of human behavior. Although, Flynn’s study is outdated and there are other factors his study does not recognize. For example, interracial mixing has increased largely as well in the past half century. Therefore the conclusion could be bidirectional but then again the technology boom could be the cause of allowing interracial mixing. Similarly to Flynn, Turkheimer searched for data on twins in a wide range of families. He investigated the role of environment and whether heritability of intelligence is equally high in all socio-economic classes. He found that the heritability of IQ for MZ and DZ twins was very high in affluent families. Among twins who grew up in the poorest families, the MZ and DZ twins had scores that varied all the same; therefore heritability of IQ is close to zero. The effect of growing up impoverished overrules genetic influences on IQ but in affluent families, IQ differences can be explained by genetics. However, Turkheimer compared old data from back to the 1970s and used IQ scores of 7 year olds. Taking 7 year olds’ IQ scores and generalizing it for all ages is quite questionable. It is possible that it takes more than 7 years for environmental factors to make large impacts and that before then it is genetic inheritance impacting the most.
